Freelancer position until 31/10/2022 with the possibility of extension

Purpose of the job

• Leads, and drives the buying process for the assigned area, ensuring competitive pricing, right service, and quality level with the best terms & conditions while adhering to Akzo Nobel policies, rules, and procedures.
• Implements global and develops regional category strategies as part of their geographic responsibility under the stewardship of the relevant Global or Regional Category Manager.
• Train and educate users on the tools, policies, and procedures pertaining to NPR purchases.

Key responsibilities

• Source, support and facilitate the acquisition of NPR goods and services. 
• Support the attainment of NPR procurement goals, both global, regional, and local, related but not limited to saving, cost avoidance, supplier reduction, payment term improvement, catalog buying, process improvement, sustainability, etc.
• Create and maintain relevant data for seamless execution of the NPR buying process. Such data include but are not limited to vendor information, catalog, approval workflow, risk profile, data related to requisition and order, etc. 
• Ensure that all commercial contracts are executed in compliance with AkzoNobel's policy, especially in areas of legal requirement, approval & signing authority, and contract life management.
• Perform spend analysis to identify and drive opportunities for cost reduction, supplier consolidation, payment term harmonization, contract coverage, and catalog expansion. At the same time, identify risks pertaining to conflict of interest, split purchase, classification errors, and policy non-compliance.
• Execute S2C process professionally, including but not limited to supplier sourcing, competitive bidding, negotiating, bid analysis & evaluation, award, contracting, progress tracking, payment, risk management, SHE, warranty, service agreement, performance review, etc. 
• Interacts with multiple stakeholders within the country/ cluster of countries to understand potential challenges and business requirements to be addressed.
• Resolve most of the operational issues related to P2P promptly. Failing so, escalate it timely/prompt and follow through with resolution strictly. 
• Creates awareness of the relevant policies, rules, and procedures among users. Train and educate users on the use of systems, and tools for NPR, like Procurement cards and catalog buying.
• Constantly review relevant NPR processes and make improvements or recommendations when required, proof of continuous improvement mentality.
• Supports / leads local NPR projects as and when assigned.
Level of autonomy

What decisions may the job holder make independently without seeking approval from a higher manager/supervisor?
• Takes decisions on source selection and identifying opportunities for cost savings in cluster of countries with relevant Category Manager or procurement manager guidance
• Routinely develops deep market understanding and country/region-specific benchmarking for the industry 
through methods that include competitive bidding, negotiating, and analyzing data and market trends 
• Agrees with relevant Category Manager and sign-off on sourcing projects that will aid in cost optimization from both the internal and external side

Job requirements

Qualifications/ Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business or related field or equivalent work experience 
• Professional procurement accreditation will be an asset
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a country purchasing role with an international understanding
• Fluency in English and Dutch
• Registered as ZZP
